Interesting, useful, and amusing web site links.....or not!
How did we get here?
A simple example of some relatively current "guess of the day" human evolution possibilities. Be mindful that species do not evolve they only develop limited adaptations such as skin tone or disease resistance. Species die and are replaced by "usually" more advanced species. NOTE: While Australopithecus is shown, Orantheopithecus is not - for politically correct reasons (I'll let you figure that out.) Also the concept of an evolutionary tree is not accurate. It's more like a bush.
Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History - Human Origins Program BRAND NEW March 16 2010! The new David H. Koch Hall of Human Origins opened at the Smithsonian ushering in their Human Origins Program. This web site is a terrific place to explore, learn, and even discuss what we know or think that we know "today" about human evolution. Be advised that a lot of "best guess of the day" theory on this site masquerades as fact or near fact but that notwithstanding this is a fantastic resource.
Fossil Hominids
This web site is intended to provide an overview of the study of human evolution, and of the currently accepted fossil evidence. Be advised that the words "currently accepted" mean that we have fossil evidence but we are not really sure what it means. Hence the word theory is used instead of fact.
Prominent Hominid Fossils
Perhaps the best fossil reference of these links but with some theory masquerading as fact.
ClarkHoward.com
"Save more, spend less, avoid ripoffs." Great informational web site.
Musee d'Orsay
Perhaps the finest fine art museum in the entire world, especially for impressionism; better than the Louvre.
